MP presents food items to 200 widows

Mr Paul Apreku Twum Barimah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa East in the Bono Region has presented quantities of food and other items valued thousands of Ghana cedis to 200 widows in the constituency.

The items comprise bags of rice, gallons of oil, assorted drinks, second-hand clothes and undisclosed sums of money.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries spread across Wamfie, Wamanafo, Kyeremasu, Asuotiano, Akontanim, Dormaa Akwamu, Akontanim, Dormaa Akwamu, Nseseresu and Asuhyiae communities, Mr Barimah said the gesture was to put smiles in the faces of the widows.

“I was deeply touched by the plight of the widows. In fact I the responsibility to promote the well-being of the marginalised in my constituency and bring happiness and joy in their lives in the yuletide”, he said.

“As an MP, I have to ensure their social inclusion and security, something I am committed doing for all irrespective of political affiliations, creed, tribe and religion”, the MP stated.

Madam Paulina Akosua, one of the beneficiaries on behalf of her colleagues thanked the MP the kindness, saying the gesture was a clear demonstration of love and compassion the MP had for them.

In a related development, Mr Barimah has presented more working tools and equipment to 400 artisanal workers and apprentices at Wamfie and Wamanfo.

They comprise 200 sewing machines, a number of hair dryers, barbering machines, carpentry tools.

In addition, Mr Barimah offered scholarship, and provided laptops and chop boxes to some tertiary and Senior High School students in the area.

The MP said he has also donated hospital beds and medical equipment to the Wamfie District Hospital and reshaped the access road at the Wamfie mosque and other communities.
