GPRTU kicks against 40 percent increment of transport fares

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has is kicking against the the 40 percent increment in transport fares, as proposed by the Concerned Drivers Association.

The Concerned Drivers Association is advocating the 40 percent increment in transport fares effective, January 17.

But, the largest transport union in the country is underlining the need for consensus building on the matter.

Speaking in an interview with Sky News in Sunyani, the Deputy General Secretary In charge of Operations of the GPRTU, Mr. Richard Amankwaa said the proposed 40 percent increment remained unwavering because no engagement or negotiations had been made.

“The GPRTU dissociates itself from the intentions of the Concerned Drivers Association because we are yet to meet on the matter”, he said.

“For now I can’t say anything we have not decided. We just resume work and the public would hear from us very soon”, Mr Amankwaah added.
