Police in Sunyani arrest British national for assaulting Fire Officer and Journalist
A British national is in the grips of the police for assaulting personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and a Journalist in Sunyani.
Francis Coope, the Chief Executive Officer of the Penwood Farm Shop in Sunyani has since been placed in police custody.
The suspect who operated a mini supermarket and fast food joint allegedly hit the forehead of Assistant Station Officer (ASO) Bright Asamoah with a sharp object and slapped Kwabena Danso Dapaa, a Journalist working with Ark FM, a Sunyani-based radio station.
Assistant Divisional Officer (ADO) Leslie Bediako Nasser, the Bono Regional Safety Officer who briefed Sky News said ASO Asamoah and Dapaa were part of a team of GNFS personnel conducting routine exercise to ensure shops, supermarkets and drinking spots in the Sunyani Municipality met fire safety requirements when the incident happened.
The victims reported the incident to the police and they were subsequently provided with a police medical form, he added.
