Farmer granted GHC100,000 bail with two sureties
Kwabena Ampomah, a farmer who allegedly murdered his 63-year-old cousin was on Thursday granted GHC100,000 bail with sureties by the Sunyani High Court Two.
The suspect allegedly murdered Adwoa Badu on April 1, 2021 at Mim in the Ahafo Region and he had since been on prison remand.
He will re-appear till April 4, 2022
When the case was heard, the court presided by Justice Gabriel Mate-Teye ordered the suspect to report at the Goaso Police station every Wednesday, to aid police investigations.
The defense Counsel, Rowland Boadi Gyan told the court the suspect visited his father and met the deceased who was then drying cocoa beans, adding the deceased asked the suspect to assist her in sieving the cocoa beans who refused to do so.
A misunderstanding erupted between the two and in the process the suspect pushed the deceased, who fell to the ground and was left unconscious.
The deceased was rushed to the Mim Ahmadiyya Hospital, where she was subsequently referred to the Kumasi Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, but the health workers on duty pronounced her dead on arrival and the suspect was arrested accordingly.
A District Court at Goaso, had earlier referred the case to the Sunyani High Court Two.
